More Than a Client Visit: What a Farm in Sydney Means for Our Australia Strategy
Field notes from Global Vertical — Sydney, Australia

Beyond a Customer Visit
This trip to Australia was never just about ticking a box on a client visit list. Yes, we came to see a customer — but we also came to do the ground work for something bigger: building a truly localised Global Vertical presence in the Australian market.
A Farm, Blue Skies, and a Two-Year Partnership
On 19 October, we landed in Sydney and met James, a partner we've worked alongside for two years. He welcomed us not into a meeting room, but onto his farm — blue sky, white clouds, rows of bamboo, and olive trees that have been in the ground for more than a decade.
It was the right setting for the conversation we needed to have.

Talking Openly About What Went Wrong
We didn't avoid the hard part. Our last shipment was held for inspection and arrived later than planned. Instead of excuses, we sat down and went through it together: what triggered it, where communication lagged, and how it affected James's business.
From that, we agreed on practical prevention measures — tighter pre-shipment documentation checks, packaging and treatment prepared with Australian border and biosecurity requirements in mind, and a clearer escalation route so that any future hold is resolved in hours, not days.
That is what a long-term partnership looks like: not perfection, but transparency and a joint plan.

Beer on the Grass, and a Bigger Map
As the conversation deepened, James brought out beer. We sat on the grass outside his office and started drawing a bigger picture — how to build a localised distribution network in Australia, how Global Vertical can help strengthen his sales channels, and how his commercial footprint could grow across the country.

From Business to Life
By the time night fell and the stars came out, the conversation had moved well beyond freight rates. We talked about business and about purpose, about work and about family, about the future of his company and about his children's education abroad.
Over every toast, one thing became clear: this was never only a supplier visiting a client. It was two business cultures meeting — and a cross-border partnership becoming something far more durable.

What CoVmes Next in Australia
Global Vertical has spent 15 years building a logistics and supply chain platform — FCL, LCL and DDP — now serving more than 2,000 customers worldwide across 600+ product categories.
That network is the foundation. What we are building next is the last mile of trust: deeper end-to-end service for our customers, on the ground, in their market.
Soon, our customers will see a Global Vertical base in Australia — local people, local distribution, faster response, and a partner who understands both the paperwork and the person on the other side of it.
We are here for the long term. And we only grow when our customers grow. That is the win-win we are building.
